History has been made at the World Poker Tour Prime Cambodia with a massive 1,050 Main Event entries setting a record prize pool of US$ 1,018,500. Not only did each qualifying day grow in size, each day was significantly bigger than its 2019 attendance. This was officially the largest open event ever staged in the Asian region.
Day 1C drew the mightiest turnout of 440 entries to take up every space at the NagaWorld Phnom Penh Ballroom. More tables were also added to quickly accommodate players. Among the contenders was WPT Prime Vietnam Main Event champion Zarvan Tumboli who was thrilled to have survived after firing multiple bullets. Another contender was a newcomer to the Asian games, France’s Leo Soma who won a WSOP bracelet this summer. By the tenth hour of play, it was bubble time. The first all in clash was between Eric Teo and Hua Wei Lin with the latter tank-calling the push and doubling up with pocket Kings over a missed flush draw.
Not so fortunate however for Jeungu Seo who wasn’t able to sustain his early rise in chips. He pushed his short stack with and was outdrawn by Dzmitry Halubitski’s . The remaining 55 players bagged up with Ben Loo closing as heat leader.
Coming Day 2, the 129 remaining players (2 double qualifiers) are now all guaranteed a minimum of US$ 1,810 while six figures awaits the top two places. The champion’s purse is a whopping US$ 179,160 which includes a seat worth US$ 10,400 to the WPT World Championship in December.
To bring in the largest stack are Day 1A chip leader Kunal Patni and Day 1B chip leader Chi Jen Chu, both players with over 700K stacks. Action plays down to the final table of 9. You can follow the race via the Live Updates in the WPT website.
